Lol, we should create a grumpy developer thread just for aoktar and Karba.
In all seriousness though, Element and Octane are on different ends of the rendering spectrum IMO. To the point where you can't just borrow some "fakeness" to make Octane faster. Which is fine.
Also, maybe I have the wrong idea about DL, but I never considered it totally "fake" as in biased. It doesn't interpolate GI results, it's just a simplified algorithm that only takes into consideration diffuse bounces.

You want octane being as fast as all this fake renders and as realistic as PT/PMC. It doesn't work like that.

If I am too polite I would do any user request no matter how important it is, and wouldn't fix displacement offset bug for the next release

was just reading the review at creativeblog.com for Element3D.
'Element does have some limitations: it’s not raytracing the scene, so objects don’t reflect neighbouring objects or cast shadows. ' .... What!?
well... nice toy from the toybox, liva.

At least with that "toy" people in the VFX industry are able to work and actually create animations in a reasonable time to quality relationship that clients are willing to pay.
But you are a customer and as such you can speak your mind and voice your opinion.
Some people from our studio looked at it and it had too many shortcomings. It might be an option to create assets for children cartoons like 'fireman sam', this kind of low demand style, but any client who needs halfway realism will reject output from Elements 3D.

Hey guys, take easy. Topic goes to funny points.
Do you want to see developpers who say "OK sir, for every request". We are on your side but of course we will say "TRUTHS". You can't compare a OPENGL engine against PATHTRACER on speed. Of course you can use "DL" with fastest option, but still it will be slower on "GEOMETRY REFRESHING".
Octane can be fast on rendering as OPENGL if you SET MAXSAMPLES=1. It calculates ONE time every pixel so as OPENGL. If to say the TRUTHS, yes i'm "GRUMPY DEV".

Lol. Users are never happy, me included.
Just saying if you're going to offer an AO mode to fake stuff then it'd be nice to see the fake mode deliver more on speed and fake other properties. If I want realism I switch to PT or diffuse mode.
But karba all this is secondary, get that 19million triangle limit fixed first so I can actually use 2.0 for my project

To Octane render I ask a very simple thing ... speed and without noise!
Speed without having to buy expensive graphics cards.
Render faster, especially with the transparencies, the subsurface and the displacement.
Is it possible ?
