I am glad that there is statement now.
The timing is for me also fine. As we already live with an unstable 1.2 plugin we can also live with an preview/unstable 1.5/2.0 version as well.
Nevertheless for sure linvanchene is right in his point with personal outage and having no backup in dev team.
I also an it project guy , and this is usually a no go in development. I know that software developer often have a different view here but from project view every person has to work in a team transparent so that another teammember has to be able to take over anytime.
Even software devs have to understand that we no more live in the 1980
I really hope that we do not have to involve OTOY for every upcoming updatecycle.
Thanks for the statement and the effort.

glad to hear dates! cant wait to get back to rendering regularly again. i still havent bothered with the standalone so 2.0 (and the stuff from 1.2/1.5) will be like a huge upgrade. not sure i can test as seriously as in the past, but i sure can try to break things with geografts, opening old files and merges

Whilst I am (like so many others) happy to hear that development will be progressing apace I am more happy to hear that you are well, t_3. Sorry to read of the personal problems, and I hope that it would be inappropriate of me to say that it's good to know they are behind you; so commiserations or congratulations as need be.
As far as the next release of OcDS goes ... I am all set up, pre-paid, for the Octane V2 version of the plug-in, so feel free to roll it out when you feel it is in a fit state to be shown to the general public. Yes, there has been a wait. A very quiet wait for quite a while, but as much as I am making metaphorical 'grabby hands' for my 1.5/2.0 OcDS I also want it to be as good and as stable and as feature-rich as you can and are willing to make it. I'd like it soon, but I'd much rather like it good!
And yes, just to burst your bubble after all that outpouring of 'nice', the wait and the silence has been frustrating and does not reflect well on the whole 'chain of command', from the OTOY managers all the way down to you. It has been said before, but even a weekly 'waving of the flag' just to let us know that someone, somewhere is sitting at a keyboard would be nice. Communicate, dammit!

And be well!

Hey T_3,
It's cool man. You do what you got to do to keep yourself in good shape. Let's put the past behind us. Some people may be sore, but hey time goes on. We'll get the plugin when we get the plugin, and I'm sure it will be the version you want to release. Not any less than what you expect from yourself. So my best recommendation, start with a fresh mindset. Don't hold too tightly onto any of the negative words that get directed towards you. Let it all go. Let yourself recover and hopefully you'll be back on track to being 100% again.

I have to agree with everything linvanchene said. In a nutshell what happenend was the programmer disappeared (for reasons explained) and all development completely stopped. This is totally unacceptable on otoy's part. Really poorly managed. My current octane plugin is constantly crashing my daz studio when trying to import terrains from infinito. Its been doing this for months so I have been unable to use daz at all for a long time.
OTOY. Please take this as an official complaint from a paying customer.
Regards
AF

I don't complain often, but I totally agree.
Who's the project manager? This is horrible planning from Otoy.
I never blame the programmer in situations like this and the company should offer a discounted 2.0 upgrade at the very least.
The DAZ community who tolerated this obscenely long delay patiently is beginning to get tired of waiting.
Tired customers don't like spending money on plugins that crash and ruin projects.

Just saying...

2. get you the well-tested release version: on october 31, 8pm cest, i will upload the qualified 1.5/2.0 "RELEASE" build.
Can someone please tell me what is going on here?
As a paying customer, am I guaranteed to receive a version of 1.x that works? That will be on Oct 31st, is that correct? [ and is reviewed by the majority as satisfactory? ]
At this point, I certainly don't intend to pay, to upgrade to any more versions.
thank you
