Efficiency is so bad on these cards.
350 to 450 watts per card. Over 1200 watts total.
I can't imagine rendering animations overnight without a big elec bill the next month.

Surprising the small difference between the Titan and the GXT580. Load temps the same and load consumption more on a titan? Doesn't look right to me, I'm sure from my research the Titans were supposed to be cooler & more power efficient than the Fermi cards 580, 590 etc? I'm not poo-pooing that review it just looks odd

Yes still fine. A s matter of fact I've added 4th GPu (760GTX 4GB) just for windows image (so that all STRIX are free of display) and temps for STRIX cards are from 65-75 depends where is card positioned. I can't go to water-cooled version anyway since vendors don't have water block for STRIX cards yet (different PCB). The one sitting in vertically (custom made holder) is coolest and middle one is hottest.

Doesn't the gtx 580 have 1.5 gig mem?
400 watts is also no joke for one card

if you plan to render animations.
I measured my palit 750 ti at 35 watts with a power meter. It renders at 4.1 mbps like the fermi 460 gt. So 3 cards would render this scene in 60 secs using only 105 watts. I bought another one used for 80. Temps are also nothing to worry about with passive cooling models coming out. I guess this is why this card is so popular with bit mining.
I hope the new cards will be this power efficient.

Somethign is not right there, 750Ti in full load is aroudn 60-65W not 35.

Seems to be dependent on the scene being rendered. My I7 3770 is 60 watts on idle measured at the outlet. When I render the benchmark scene it reaches 90-95 watts. I then rendered the instancing scene sample and it was 100-105 watts. So around 35-45 watts according to my watt meter.
In contrast when rendering in lw native my I7 3700 is 120-125 watts.
So octane could potentially be a huge saving if you're rendering animations. Even 5 min a frame rendering, 1000 frames takes 80 plus hours continuous rendering. Two cards that's 40 hours. Three cards that's 30 hours. 4 cards at 20 hours. And all below 300 watts.

Note the Anandtech power graphs are overall system power, not just card. So kjnock some watts off for CPU etc.

Not really, check the graph more closely at first page it says "VGA Card ONLY". And if you look it logically it's impossible that whole machine uses 6W and 9W at idle (first two graphs) when connected single and multimonitors so yes that's measurments for VGA card alone not complete system (speakign abotu FIRST page graphs).
750Ti uses up to 60W MAX (NOT overclocked but as you can see on Peak it managed to go up to 68W) and PCI-E slot can give MAX 70-75W so if you need more then card has additional power connectros, but 750Ti is below 70W so it's not having those connectors but it's surelly not at full speed 30-35W, somethign is amiss on measuring device i guess. Goen_n do you have UPS and diagnostic to see how much Power PC uses at full speed ?
You can check Nvidia specs and it also says 60W

Lewis, I think he might be right, 'cos some users measured other cards & it seems that even under full load some cards draw less power than those benchmark sites measured. Maybe because of the workload? (everything goes into rendering, but no other parts on the cards are stressed out =)
I've seen a Guy on the internet who have build 6x 750s =) pretty nice render power considering the cost, the rig is relatively silent & not so hungry =) but that is a solutions only for those who can live with 2gb..Personally I see 780 being way better investigation..
Now for Your rig! =) thanks for photos! it's nice to see such innovative housing. I can understand why that vertical card runs cooler - more air to breath =) P.S. h80 with noctuas is awesome, done a build not so long ago..- barely audible..Love those fans!
as for waterbloks, You can try to use those from EKWB EK-Thermosphere that fit "all" 6xx/7xx cards, but if You would be planing OC should very be careful with temps on memory & power (think ekstremeRigs have a video, that with custom bios'es 780/Titans power delivery can get up to crazy temps) even with full covers..
