One issue that is a red flag is its looking in the wrong instalation folder for thsoe files it's failing to find. where can I change the location?
Ignore the reference to Poser Pro 2014 in the error message - this is simply the folder where the python code was compiled (ie. MY pc, not yours).
1) What folder is Poser10 installed into?
2) What was the full folder name where you went looking for the rendertarget.por file pls?
3) Are you using the English version of Poser?
This is most probably a corrupt PoserPython installation in Poser 10, but I just want to discount some other things first, which the above info to tell me.

Thanks. So you have Windows 64bit. but running 32 bit Poser 10? But you also have Poser Pro 2014 64bit demo installed? If this is correct - can you pls confirm that you downloaded and installed the 32 bit version of the Octane 2 plugin? And that you installed it into F:\Program Files (x86)\Smith Micro\Poser 10? (To confirm, you should have a file
F:\Program Files (x86)\Smith Micro\Poser 10\Runtime\Python\addons\OctaneRender for Poser\2-32\octane.dat).
Can you pls confirm the above? In the meantime, I will double check the 32 bit Octane 2 plugin installer.

That's right, Paul. I isntalled the demo of poser pro 2014 but didn't buy it. I bought the Poser 10 version. There is a Octane.dat file dated 7/1/2014 installed in the folder structure:
F:\Program Files (x86)\Smith Micro\Poser 10\Runtime\Python\addons\OctaneRender for Poser\2-32\octane.dat).
TIA!

Biffo - I have installed the plugin (release 2.3.0.22) into Poser10 (32 bit) and Poser Pro 2014 (32 bit), and it woulds fine on both. So I think the error you are getting is due to corrupt PoserPython installation. I suggest the following:
1) Uninstall Poser Pro 2014 demo
2) Re-install Poser 10
3) Re-install all the Poser 10 SR's (3.1)
4) Re-install OctaneRender for Poser 32 bit
