Probably not, but is there a way to run 1.5 and 2.0 plugins side-by-side for testing purposes or for easy switching back to 1.5 if I hit a bug in 2.0 and need to get something rendered?
On Windows, you best option is to simply run the 1.5 or 2.0 installer - it is very quick. For OSX, I am less familiar with the installer, so you may need to uninstall first.
Alternatively (for the more technically proficient user), you can manually put the Octane 2.0 version in C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Luxology\Configs\OctaneRenderForModo2 and then rename the OctaneRenderForModo index.cfg to something else (not ending in cfg) when you want to run the 2.0 version instead of the 1.5 version.

Hi Paul,
As much as I appreciate the hard work for modo plugin, and welcome it, I want to say having multiples windows, modo, hdrl light studio, 2 plugins windows, it is overwhelming, and this is why I want to ask to find a solution to integrate side by side the render window with the preference window, just make the preview embedded inside that settings window, I dream to a day having octane render plugin full screen in on monitor and modo into an other one, but now is not possible, I was thinking to aberration ideas like learning blender ( i like their implementation into the interface) or buying an other monitor, thinking of how to use the standalone app more proficient.
Also I saw the render region tool, this is nuts, but here I have to questions.
1. Octane render 2.0 plugin tells that the mega samples per pixel are lower than when rendering the entire scene, why this is happening, since we use the same render power

.
2. Second, I recommend we use the for panning around the image the magic space bar in the octane render window. It is annoing to have the preview redefining a new region instead of panning into by click and draging.

Yes, I agree it's a lot of open windows. But I am unsure why you would want the Modo Preferences window along side the OctaneRender Viewport window. Surely they need to be separate.

What is the "magic space bar" pls? At the moment OctaneRender Viewport panned via mouse dragging is disabled while Render Region mode is enabled (so the mouse drag events don't get confused).

Hi Paul,
I need a unified User interface in order to keep the workflow simple. It is a mess for me to have one window of modo, one of hdr light studio, one of octane plugin settings. And the biggest frustration is overlapping. It will be nice to have them in on window (the octane. Panels). i will do a fullscreen octane and a full screen modo on second monitor. I think if HDRL Light studio was doccked into modo, today I would have only 1 monitor.
About the spacebar. I can not pan the image when zoomed, because when I have the to pan I need to click, and this command is overwritten by the region render drawing , so I suggest to pan around the render image to implement spacebar+ LMB, this is how adobe works for pan. ( a know shortcut) .
Also is it possible to have the zoom active for preview mode rendering.
Please, please implement all octane windows into one window frame, use tabs, (modo supports this), this might be even more awesome,
Please remember is a Plug In not a Plug Everywhere.

( i was bad)

I think what Paul is saying is that this is not yet possible on Windows and OSX. MODO can do this kind of thing itself, but it does not allow plugins to do this. That is my understanding. I would imagine that if plugins could, HDR Light Studio would be able to to be docked as well, but it can't.

Hi Riggles,
yes, but one window octane plugin i think is possible. And Paul is very skillful, at-least he convinced me.

This is a request you will need to made to TheFoundry Modo developers, since the current Modo API does not currently allow the Viewport to be a Modo window.

This may be possible in the long term, but right now I would like to get the version 2.0 plugin robust and error free, and having the ability to pan whilst render region is on introduces problems. So for the moment there is no panning whilst render region is on.
Also is it possible to have the zoom active for preview mode rendering.
This is not possible, because in Preview mode the Octane resolution is connected to the Viewport size.
