Aha, so it's not just my imagination.
I've been setting up mega scenes with a lot of Proxy trees. The scene takes forever to load, but renders very quickly.
Unfortunately, when sending to Backburner, the scene loading time is added to the render time. I was wondering why my render times would increase dramatically when sending to Backburner. Now I know why. Very good to know.
Very helpful thread!

With movable proxies scenes take less time to load and consume less memory(in case if you use instancing) but after loading render slower.
Ah ok I see. It must be something else that has increased my loading times.
Thanks Karba!

When you render frame sequence, octane loads entire scene only once and then just update in from frame to frame.
When you use backburner, octane has to load entire scene all the time for every frame.

I see.
"Burned" by Backburner...again!
Thanks so much Karba. (on the side, would be nice to be able to use Backburner 'strips' for Octane rendering =)

Hi Karba you said Octane loads scene once but seems like second, third etc frames take almost same amount of time to load. I do use iToo forest with lots of grass and trees. Not sure if it is that or if I also use show grass in camera view only since there are a lot of grass .
