It reminds me the sad story of Random Control Arion, they stopped the maya plugin dev to focus on Max and Rhino only.
Maybe Maya is GPU-Unbiased Render unfriendly ???

The current stable version of the Maya plugin works just fine. There is no issue with having Octane running within Maya.
Octane for Maya was the first plugin to get to a useable state after the one for 3dsMax and the Max plugin had been developed alongside the stand alone. JimStar has done a great job with the plugin up to now, implementing it in really smart ways and giving us some great tools like virtual shaders to allow us to vary the shaders on instances. However it does seem that since he became an Otoy developer he has had too many other duties to move both the Blender and Maya plugins along at the same rate and for whatever reason Maya has been the one given a lower priority at this time.
This has disappointed me also but JimStar has stated that Maya is next on his priority list and I know, once he gets to it, the Maya plugin will again be right back up with the others and running sweet.

You're right, we use it everyday in our workflow, and it working fine. But it's still the 1.20a !!!!!
Since the 1.20-1.5 whe can't just install the RC version for Maya 2012... It's unfair compare to the other software plugins. I mean, it's a commercial product, not an alpha or beta stage.

I'm pumped, The new version is just going to increase the already incredible plug-in's capabilities.

And the current release candidate is very buggy anyway.

That is a very good point! Especially as the Blender plugin is still a beta and costs half as much as the Maya plugin it is completely backwards to have blender updated to v1.5 first. Sorry I was really just pointing out that Maya itself wasn't the problem in my earlier post.
Come on Otoy, give Maya some love.
