We can debate these points, or I can work on implementing Octane2 features into the plugins, but there is not time for both
Well I guess that's one way of dodging my thesis there - but nevermind, I guess it's crystal clear and although I don't really think it's necessary to go into this any deeper, I think the course that Otoy should keep with Octane is the same one they followed with the release versions.

Seriously - I wont shell out another 400 € for a "mere" update. But then again - that's just me...

Okay maybe I've missed something?
Do we have to pay an upgrade for octane to and dynamic hair?
Is this what's the arguments about it's been a long day's maybe I'm just reading between the lines?

Octane2 Standalone will be a paid upgrade from Octane1.5. Poser dynamic hair will only render in Octane2, not Octane1.5. You will need to upgrade both Octane Standalone and the plugin if you want to migrate to the new Octane2 features (dynamic hair, displacement mapping, motion blur, etc). The Octane Standalone pricing has been announced (and well received). The Poser plugin upgrade pricing has not been announced.

I will still be maintaining the 1.5 version of the plugin (bug fixes, minor enhancements) for those who don't want to upgrade (but IMO the dynamic hair alone justifies the upgrade cost - it is incredible!).

Sounds good to me Paul... the cheque's in the post... when can we expect to call our bank managers for an extension to the mortgage?
I can't help it... I'm an early adopter... gets me into trouble sometimes with untested code... but someone has to be the muppet.

Holy crap that's crazy. It might be worth cracking open the manual on my install of poser 2012 just to get this dynamic hair - it looks awesome! That and shelling out some green for the plugin too....

Well since the standalone upgrade (1.5 --> 2.0) pricing was just announced and is 99 € I guess that's tolerable...
It now all depends on the price for the Poser plugin for me - provided it won't cost above 100 € (it's a plug-in after all and therefore alone shouldn't cost more then the standalone) - I'm in on this again.

Your call Paul ;)
