Hi, i have the same issue, so i dicided to uninstall everything, and reinstall. First blender octane edition then octane server, load the plugin in the preferences of blender. I add the standalone and the plugin licence login/password. When i try to render, same issue :" waiting for image ..." and nothing.
when i launch the wiewport in rendered i noticed that the fields of licence login/password become empty ...

Hm ... when you hit NUM0 to enter camera view, and then Shift-F to enter camera fly mode .... cna you still use the mousewheel to zoom in and out? It suddenly doesn't work for me anymore. Strangely, I can zoom in and out as usualy in the normal 3D views etc, just not in cam fly mode?

SOLUTION: Actually, in 2.7, it defaults now to WALK mode ... to walk around with FPS controls (WASD and mouse look). Needs to be changed back to FLY mode in the user settings, if preferred.

It seems there is a problem with OctaneServer, I also noticed that it disappears when the viewport is in rendered mode ...
I hope it can help.

I can not confirm that. I still see it in my tray and render mode works.

But I still have the problem that it uses GPU after I cancel renderings with ESC. But this seems only to happen on my Laptop with its 770M GPU (and most recent NVidia drivers).

I do nothing more and now it works ... i don't really understand. I have to make more tests.

I'm testing octane for blender and sometimes, octaneserver crashes, that's why the viewport rendered crash too. I don't know if it's octane server, or my internet connexion ...

I found this also but worked it out ;)

Enter STAND (ALONE) octane user info then the password,
Then enter PLUGIN user name and password BUT DO NOT HIT ENTER/RETURN KEY or all that info you just entered will vanish!, just click outside in the GUI some place. Then switch viewport rendering method to RENDERED, there will be a short pause while your info is verified on the OTOY server and then everything will work fine, or at least it did for me ;)

I feel like this should be implemented better. Also (I am basing this off of the last version and assuming it hasn't been changed), can we move the location of the user data to another section that we can minimize? Once we do it, we no longer need it open, taking up space.

Hm, still having the issue with octane not stopping, when I ESC a render ... now tested this at home on my 780Ti and the newest NVidia driver .. same issue. I hit ESC twice to exit rendering and work in blender ... GPU load stays at 100% and I have to kill and relaunch the octane server.
