Actually my problem is very hard to set the camera point. Example: I can't preview the object and adjust the camera point follow my way. Anyway,I will try the camera.
The plugin should exactly match the AutoCAD camera if you follow the instructions at http://render.otoy.com/manuals/AutoCAD/?page_id=67.
For Lighting, I would like to know Point Lights ,Spotlights, Weblights can support or not?
Light needs to come from "something" in an unbiased renderer - so either a geometry emitter, IBL image, or the sun light.

Hi Paul, I already try the lighting, it can't support.
Regarding the license, can I install & use it for desktop & laptop? Example, I use in desktop at office and use it in laptop while presentation.
If I buy this license is version 1.20 now, in future when your got new version or upgrade, is there any extra charge for it??

Octane does not have a "Point Light" concept - it needs geometry to produce the light - so you need to create geometer emitters and apply an emission material as per the manual. Over time you can/will build a library of AutoCAD light geometry items and Octane material defaults which makes importing emitter light very quick and easy to setup.

You can do this, but you would need to de-activate both Octane Standalone and the plugin at the office prior to activating both at home, then de-activate both at home prior to activating at the office. It's not a process I recommend, but be done.

There is an upgrade fee for Octane Standalone such that the price for Standalone 1.5 + upgrade = price for Standalone 2.0. So there is no benefit in waiting until Octane 2.0 Standalone is released. The plugin update policy has not been finalised yet.

Hi Paul, Thank for your reply.
Regarding lighting, you said create geometry , i'm not really understand it. Can show me some clear picture for more understanding.

Thanks !! :D

HI Paul,
Regarding the license, can i just buy the license "OctaneRender™ for Autodesk® AutoCAD® v1.x Beta License" instead of "
OctaneRender™ for Autodesk® AutoCAD® Beta + Standalone Combo v1.x License".

Thanks !!

Hi kwaikeong1402,

Here is the 4 steps that you need to understand to create the light fromm geometry.

1. create a box or geometry.
2. create emitter material using autocad material editor
3. assign the material to the geometry
4. change material at settings. material should be diffuse with emission properties.

Let me know if this helps.

Thank you!

Hi

There is more info on PolyFaceMeshes is at http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=38976. In summary, AutoCAD 2014 does not appear to support accessing the geometry information for PolyFaceMeshes. From memory - it does work on AutoCAD 2013 - but I have not double-checked to confirm that. The latest version of the plugin will load the scene into the Octane Viewport excluding the PolyFaceMesh. So if you have PolyFaceMesh objects, convert them to solids or surfaces if you need to render them in the Octane plugin.

Hi,

May I know why 2013 work, 2014 can't do it?
As I know,in autocad original render no problem, but in your software have such problem.
These have many part free download from internet is in polyfacemech format, unpossible I convert it one by one.
Is you have any shortcut way to convert it?
