I get the same effect when using a grey textured envioronment tag. I've new to Octane and linear workflow. This is what I see trying to go from a srgb texture back to an srgb render.

Do you have your project set to linear?
Do you have the filmresponse in linear?

linear setting of project setup will only affect rgb colors, not textures. Octane works in linear workflow internally. This is independent process than plugin.
You should tweak the input textures and render outputs.

So should I select linear in the octane material slot when using a srgb texture? Should it be on default? Rgb?

Thanks Aoktar, this means if using an srgb texture, you'll need to create a linear texutre, so when you render and have an image back in sRGB the resulting image looks the same. The way I understand it so far is:

Texture:
sRGB-to-Linear, work with linear in Octane and Project settings, render to linear exr, apply linear to sRGB LUT.

Am I understanding that correctly?

as i said, octane calculates in linear space. Liveviewer doesn't apply any color viewer transformation when display the image. If your monitor isn't linear you should see different. You can change save profile to srgb. this should give your wish. But i have checked this long time ago and can be little different
