Yep, congrats to Julio and Suvakas and of course to all the participants, there were some really great stuffs.
I had this idea in my drawers since a while and took this opportunity to get the impulse to finish it ;)
I just realised that I forgot to add the hdr map in the provided zip, I'll fix that this evening.

Hello all.

Congrats to the 3 on top. As i said before they are really amazing scenes.
I'm glad to be a part of the competition, was great fun to test some features that i usually don't in normal day.

In the last week of competition I was away from home and had to finish my scene in my laptop, with my GT 555m I managed to achieve something I'm proud of. Only with octane is possible to squeeze all the possibilities of a GPU, and steel manage to work in real-time. And for that I thank all the effort that as been put to improve Octane StandAlone.

Congrats Julio Cayetano, enjoy your new GTX780 ;) , from the start I saw it would be hard to beat that entry.
Congrats suvakas, for that amazing model and cool concept.
Congrats enricocerica for inspiring work and detail.

Congrats to all other participants too. 8-)

See ya in the forum and hopefully in the next competition....

Cheers to all

Hi,

As mentioned I forgot to include the hdr map in the provided zip file, it's now fixed, for those who would like to download the scene : http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=35411

Congratulations to all and special bravos to the winners ! :)

I liked "OctaneRender Box (enricocerica)" and "IDEA (Julio Cayetano)" better than "CUDA powered ATV (suvakas)".
The ATV is a lot of fun to look at and also an exceptional example to follow / look up to in terms of professional modeling and texturing ;). Just not so much a good fit for the specific of this theme as there's no CUDA suggestion / hint in the scene. A more representative title would have been: "GPU powered ATV".
I hoped this was a competition for the best idea for the theme: OCTANEBENCH, not for the most "wow" looking scenes ... I'll keep that in mind for future contests.

SIDE NOTE: I couldn't see from the poll (just out of curiosity) how many votes have my entries got ... It would have been interesting / helpful to see the complete poll, with all the entries and their votes.

Thank-you for this opportunity (and the patience to read my lamentations ;) ),
Best of luck to all,
eidy

The name was random. Just something to call my work on the forum. Totally irrelevant.

You really don't like my ATV do you? :)
I thought that an ATV using GPU's for engine is exactly the kind of scene that goes well as a benchmark scene of a GPU renderer. No?
Besides, the rule was, that "the theme is free to choose".
So to be honest, I don't understand what you're talking about.

I'm sorry if I've upset you, suv (if I may) !

I DO LIKE YOUR ATV (as I've already mentioned the professional look!) just not so much for this particular benchmark whose inherent / foremost theme was its name itself (OCTANEBECH) ;)
My "wrath" was in no way directed at you :). I really hoped my works for this competition would gain more appreciation. That's all ;)

Once again, my bad ...
All best,
eidy

No, no, I'm not upset. I hardly ever am. 8-) (hard to read emotions from the forum post, i know)
It's just that I don't agree with your idea like a benchmark scene should be smth minimalistic or strictly related to Octane. I think the opposite - benchmark scenes should be as heavy as possible.
This was not a competition to look for a new logo or smth.

And thanks for liking my ATV :) :)

Ps. ATV has plenty of references to Octane and Octane logo.
