use MSI Afterburner and check custom fan speed
You can set the curve, at 80° you can boost your gpu fans at 100% of speed for example.
More noise but gpus stay cold.

I`ve stated some issues for 580 in http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=35122 but I did not state temps there.

1x680 (primary disp. and placed on top) and 3x580s.
Before the cooling upgrade, 580s in the middle was about 95,96 degrees celsius and the one at the bottom was about 85 deg. where 680 was about 65 deg. without overclock (in at last 3-4mins runs). I was afraid to overheat and loose my GPUs also.

After the upgrade (and overclock) the top and the bottom gpu stays the same in temp as expected, the ones in the middle with Asetek 740GF s each is working at 55-60 deg. overclocked to 918MHz .

As Gabriele said, always full fan speeds with EVGA Precision X or MSI Afterburner. Very noisy indeed.

Hi Karanis. I am so glad to hear this is catching on - and that you have joined the club! I'm curious, did you cut a hole in your shroud and keep gpu fan, or did you do as I suggest, which is to go naked w/ heatsinks and point a case fan at gpu(s)?

If you did the other 580 with 740GF and used the new model (or GF with zips or a dwood bracket) on your 680, and did the naked mod, you would have one (practically) silent-but-deadly beast.

It appeared easier than I was thought - buying all the water-parts in internet-store, and just assembling it all inside the case...

My 560s get to around 85 degrees every time I render. They have been doing so for almost a year now with no signs of any damage. It does mean that the room that the computer is sitting in becomes rather warm but GPUs are designed to run hot.

Hi Frank. I cut the hole in the shroud and kept GPU fans because I could not risk overheating of memory modules since I did not buy heatsinks, although my CosmosII has 2 GPU fans on side panel. And both GF radiators are push-pull ventilated.

In fact, I did not do anything on 680 because CosmosII`s top 3rd 120mm fan slot has a screw place for a long radiator and you can not place 3 120mm radiators of GF to top side.

So, I must use the harddrive bay place for 680`s GN but I could not solve the airflow design. Top radiators exhaust a lot of heat upwards. If I use sidepanel intakes (as it must be), I would let GN`s hot air travelling inside the case, which is something I do not want.

Finally, I`m done with this setup and I don`t plan to work on it more, at least for now. But a full water cooling would be fascinating. I definitely suggest people to use full water cooling.

PS : It`s noise freaks me out.
