I have many cars in my signature I modelled and rendered in lightwave that I want to render in octane. Just won't do it now since I heard 2.2 scenes will not be compatible with newer octane builds.
The things you have to keep in mind for the lw plugin is that you can only have one layer for now. Not sure if holocube will be able to combine layout layers and export to one obj file for octane. Because in blender its possible to export multiple objects layers into one obj file. So the trick is to use bones and objects with weightmaps to animate these parts.
But this is one object with parts. Lets hope holocube can make it work with multiple object layers in layout.
were did you hear that ? we've done a lot of work to ensure 2.2 scenes are compatible with 2.3 and beyond.

check the tutorial that i post in the doc thread
http://www.refractivesoftware.com/forum ... 2&start=60
you can find two script that use savetransformed command and other free scripts to save and unify objs (subdivision too) in a sequence of obj to have a good workflow from lw to octane.
you can use that scripts to unify more objs in layout with a single obj and more

Hmm...ok maybe my head is playing tricks I read it in the forum somewhere. Maybe it was from old version to 2.2 that was not compatible. Anyway good news I can continue tests if everything is backward compatible from now on.

Are you exporting from modeller? Have you succeeded in exporting multiple animated objects from layout into octane?
My workflow for that car is only one object layer in layout.

Where do you download the latest exporter? Also the older drivers won't work for the GTX 480's. Is there another way to Export from Lightwave to Octane?

You need tobe a licensed costumer to download the soft exporters.
the other way to export to octane is export to obj and load into octane

Hi!

I am a licenced customer to Lightwave for 4 years, I cant find this soft export tool you're referring to though. I have tried exporting as .OBJ with all the various steps required just to have Octane Render crash at 99% while Parsing Face.

I currently am using Kray render engines. The best thing in kray render engine is fast rendering (before I learn about Octane render engine) and kray instances. Does Octane render engine support and integrate with LW? How about third party plug-ins such as instances? I can't find out comparision between kray vs Octane.

Thanks.

hi, Octane has a plugin for LW, in fact there is a forum thread for the plugin. Best way to find out about Octane Render is to use it, there's a demo that can be downloaded from the website.
