Yeah.. now that would be good... like change everything from glossy to diffuse...
This is possible - but tricky (due to the multi-select requirement for the tree). I'll add it to the list - but won't make the next version.
can you automatically update the V4 texture... or any texture really when you do a scene refresh to the new textures rather than having to go into Materials ans reload between changes of textures. I'll bugger off now...
This one I can add to the next version. So rightclick the figure/prop in the Material tab, then select "Reload all texturemaps from Poser for this figure".

Yup that's it... and then bypass the dialog telling me all textures reloaded... it takes another click to close the window and I'm lazy...LOL

Deane - I am about 60% of the way through a major revamp of the whole plugin. So the next version will be "different"! It will create the Octane node setup when the Viewport is opened rather than when the plugin is started. This will speed up a bunch of activities. You can also fully resize the setup window, there is a "Configuration" screen, better handling of texturemap limits, etc. Because of the major changes in this release, some new features will not make it (because it is focused on stability) - but once the plugin is stable I can add the tweaks above in.

Hey Paul...
I really think you need a day job...
A few ideas I have, but, these are probably based on being a Poser interface user.
- How about a slider allowing me to adjust focal distance, everything else in the plugin is slider based.
- A popup allowing you to set defaults for all new start up renders.
- Keeping both the sunlight and texture environments so you can switch between them without losing what you previously had.
- Since the Live DB is internet based (I have no idea why, it's slow and it doesn't really have a lot of matrials in there), how about setting a wee small section on a hard drive somewhere where users can upload their own materials for others to share.
- Get atmospherics working...man they are a pain... as you said.
Ok... I'll bugger off now, you can probably do all these things, but still a newbie to the plugin.

You can click a focus point on the Viewport. And the Settings tab "camera"->"focalDepth" has a slider.

This is in the ArchiCAD and Revit plugins I have developed, and the Poser plugin update will enable this feature. Might not be in the very first update release, but certainly in by the second. You can basically import and export rendertargets (so pre-configured sunlight, IBL, etc). Plus you can set a "default" rendertarget. It's pretty neat.
- Keeping both the sunlight and texture environments so you can switch between them without losing what you previously had.
Again, this is in the ArchiCAD plugin, but the import/export of rendertargets probably supercedes this requirement. If you feel the import/export/default rendertarget doesn't do it for you, I can add this in in about 15 mins.

Mmmmmm. It the moment you can share .POE and .POC (although they don't package up the texturemaps). I would speculate that the cloud edition of Octane might bring some changes in this area. Probably not something I could easily do just for the Poser plugin.
- Get atmospherics working...man they are a pain... as you said.
This is all in your head :-) At some point you decide it doesn't work, then something clicks, and it's easy from there. Not sure this could easily be automated. What would be really good though is a sample pz3 file that people could download to see how it all fits together. Any takers?
