I really like what you have done here. This is a very good start. The rendering is awesome. Composition is great but few technical aspects.
The loose rocks need their own texture so they dont blend this much with the ground.
The bottles should be uncapped, i dont think winos cap their bottles as they pitch them.
With wine goes cigarette a few discarded butts will add to the realism, maybe even candy or food wrapper
Creepers or Ivy go for moisture so a wet spot or mildewed area should justify the creepers moving towards the center, like a flow-off of water.

All in all this is very good and thank you for sharing your work with us.

as already mentioned, scale is of, but.. =) I really like the atmosphere.
spare particles near camera to form bokeh would be nice adddition too.

something between these two images would be just perfect =)
try to be more subtle =) it might get even better/stronger effect!

cheers

Scale looks completely off.
Not if the freeway was built for some really small people and their really small cars. :)

Seriously, though I love both of the images. The scale thing didn't hit me until later.

Living in Chcago I never looked at it as being the portion where the cars drive, but the supporting structure. You do find these areas are cluttered with debris from the occupants. Homeless people and passers-by who discard their refuse along the way.

I lived in LA for about 13 years and I was always amazed that there were actually companies that had their stores or offices built into the cement walls of freeway overpasses. It was not common, but every now and then...There it was. I just found that so strange. Who would want traffic rumble over their heads all day long?!
