Fair enough. There is a reason why Octane is a beta version at the moment and why the C4D to Octane exporter has version number 0.02 ;)

just have a couple of weeks of patience until the C4D exporter is done, then it's push the button and play.

I think that besides all the current limitations that you point out octane can be added to a production pipeline as long as you know those. I have used it for professional jobs just fine if the job was suited for it, and as octane grows so it grows the range of jobs I'll be using it in.
If I want to go downtown for coffe with a friend I would not use an airplane to get there, it would be useless and the jetlagg wouldn't go along with my latte.
