Yes good remark, no noise at all on the glass after 1mn45sec with two gtx 260.

i also see no caustics...
maybe it's not full pathtracing, like arion, eg they leave out certain path types, resulting in no caustics / no fireflies.

Thanks for the explanation Rad.
You are very aware of the render naiborhood ;)

There seem to be caustics here:

Well, those caustics looks very subtle, and pathtraced ^^

Octane already produced better looking caustics then that ;)

Cheers.

The youtube video look good, but not as good as Octane. Granted a lot of that could be the way the file was set up. Everything still looks plastic like, not real.

i think they are somewhat limiting the rendering equation, eg limiting the unbiasedness by either leaving out certain light interactions,
or not multiplying PDFs, which does'nt give fireflies, but it does give incorrect results.
arion does the same currently (they simply cut out caustic paths, so it's not unbiased)

we on de the full render equation, every bounce is accounted, also caustics, therefore the fireflies.
MLT will fix that though. let's hope we can finish it smoothly with no big issues and we'll have 2.3 released asap.

well that's we are looking forward from Octane ;)

is that an emitter rendering image in iray? Since I've been working at architecture design office, we do need light emitters in the scene. I'm very excited to hear that the emitter function will be implemented in 3.0 :D

if we have time enough we might add it to the next release after the 2.2 which will be released as RC tomorrow,
so that will be 2.3.
however, that's not a promise.

I have just seen a set of videoz from a new gpu renderer here:
