Octane run correctly but while rendering (while calculating samples) the UI is ultra-slow, Firefox is ultra-slow, everthing is slow. Why ? If Octane use only GPU. Its so slow that clicking a button takes 1 second or two. Its not usable.
Its like if I was out of RAM.

Well everything you see on your screen is passed via the graphic card, so if the graphic card is being maxed out then everything else will appear slow.

Its strange because on the Spaceships scene when I change the default Env to a HDR its not making all the UI slow.

Hi,
When octane is rendering, it uses your GPU %100.
when the GPU is busy computing your render, eg when it's doing a pass,
it does'nt update the windows UI.
when you use it on a very slow card like a 8600, it blocks you from using other applications.
that's why we really recommend you to get a decent card like a GTX260 or higher,
and we will also finetune this in future versions so there's more time left to the OS.
GPU's don't have complex operating systems which schedule multi-tasking.
EDIT: if you want to do something else, you can hit the pause key and then work in another application,
then hit play again to resume in octane.

Yep, I have exactely the same situation with my laptop which has a quadro card, the Nvidia driver includes the cuda driver and Octane works fine on my laptop.

Hi,
I have a 8600M GT as well on my laptop and the latest drivers. How do I open the test scenes? I can't click on "Open", "Save" or "Save as" in the menu File.
Thanks

I believe you have to import them as an .obj and then go from there.
By the way if you click the little macro icon it sets up a whole scene and you just need to add a mesh node.
