great work. that shows how powerful the direct lighting engine is - not only for previews

Looks great - I took the liberty of downloading it and adding motion blur in AE and it works a treat (nuke too). Great render. Kudos

I won't say it's not looking realistic. A lot of rendering out in forums looking not so good or took a lot longer to render. Most people which are not familiar with renderings and 3D will find it realistic. I had discussions with some clients which wanted me to skip path traced renderings because they liked the direct lit ones better.

My friends and family usually even can't judge what kind of light have been used.
Maybe the image could be improved with a colored skylight. :)

You are on a fundamentally wrong path if you think "more realistic light=better product"
If you have problems understanding that part, train harder.

No I don't think so. I like the animation and scene but think the grey light could be a bit spiced up with a colored HDR image.
I was referring to Elvis post.

I know.
I was just manning some doubts in the ground that could spring up.
Complelty unrelated to your angle as you have no problem looking at the animation.
Was also directed to Elvis and who ever would like to write something like that again.

hi guys .
this test was to achieve the best fastest way to render a animation in octane .
if speed is what you want you have to make compromises in quality.that applies to any render engine.
by the way i tried with a HDR sky but it slows down the render time, same with daylight .

But I noticed the go mode is not much faster as path tracing. I did such a test some time ago too but got a real speed boost with the default DL mode.

i think the best render option for animations like that is DL ambient occlusion and fiddle around with the aodist.
cheers
