In all other competitions I've seen, still & animation were a separate category. An animation requires much more work than a still and it's a different product. Thus the two cannot be judged with the same conditions, and shouldn't be in the same category.

For more affluence next time consider more topics the participants could chose from and also categories for pro & amateur renders (like DayVids mentioned above). Also, the competition cannot be left unmanaged by thee organizer, like this one was - the organizer should motivate & antagonize the participants and closely observe the competition development. And respect your own deadlines & rules you set at the start.

An competition should always have a topic (or more of them), because it's more challenging & fun this way.

+1 for the rules

Even if I found architectural renders very nice, I don't think they matched the theme of the competition and don't understand why they are in first places as you've said "there will be extra points for the theme"...

If the goal was only to promote Architectural capability of Octane just make it a rule for next competitions.

Netherless thanks for this competition that help me discover some new tips in the material editor.

Look guys, the topic was not mandatory,
and we picked the nicest pieces of art.

Many of the apocalyptic themed renders were of lower quality compared to the winners... (no offense to anyone)
It's not easy selecting a few winners from such a large list images, we just interpolate the list of a few people and then make it final, so it's not just one person, but kin this case 8 people juried.

I didn't enter because I thought I missed the deadline. I got caught up in modeling the scene and setting everything up, that I didn't get it done in time.
