And two more... I have lost 2 files due to a probable error when moving files, or maybe I simply forgot to save them.

Sorry for the place taken on the page.

I had prepared more images, but some scenes refused to load. So some more time is really welcome to find out the troubles. Hopefully, I will be able to render them. I also rendered some files with missing textures... I'll update them if I can, but now I have to sleep at least for 12 hours ! ;)

Hi Mlody47 and others,

We know that the prolongation is a double-edged sword. The problem is, that we have stated that everyone will get the chance to play with the 2.4 before the end of the competition and we were expecting to get the Linux build done before the deadline. Unfortunately that didn't happen, which is only our fault, but not the Linux user's. It's not about the question if pre-beta 2.4 makes any difference to your rendering, but a question of fairness.

So in the end we had two choices: Either we keep the dealine and p*** off all Linux users, which are already disappointed because they didn't have a chance to play with the current version yet. Or we prolonge the comp and p*** off everyone who planned his/her project to fit into the original schedule. Well, we bit the bullet and chose the second option and hope that it is the smaller of two evil. At least everyone gets chance to tweak/improve his/her project a bit more.

And yes, the next comp will be managed better again. We learnt our lessons I guess.

Thanks again for all your effort and I hope you also had fun on your projects and maybe learnt a thing or two. Cheers,
Marcus

Thanks, Lechu !

The images are not actually telling a story, but rather illustrating some moments of Elisabeth's venture, like photos taken by an unvisible witness ! ;)

Wow, so much commotion over a deadline postponement. o.O; I mean, I worked like crazy this past weekend to finish it in time and thus I'm a bit disappointed, but this gives me even more time to tweak and re-render. No need to get all upset. =) Also, a quick reply to this quote my mlody:

and Yes my skills are only trained when I AM AIMING for the win. And you are aimiing for what?? last place?? I dont think You evolve aiming for something not above You and making sphere on grid. Everyone here who was rendering competition images , was aiming for the win, so they were pushing not only the software, but themselves too. I dont know if Your familiar with ESTIMATIONS...

Actually, I can push and motivate myself to go far and beyond without aiming for the win. I know I won't win and I knew it when I started this. For me personally, contests like this have two main focus-points: Having fun and having an excuse to work on a project and thus get better at modeling, rendering, etc. And in all honesty, I feel that if you're only in it for the win, you're misplacing your priorities. Also, I'm gonna assume you meant expectations instead of estimations, and I can happily say that I've met my personal goals and even exceeded my own expectations. So I can proudly say this contest was a success for me, and I genuinly hope you can say the same for yourself, first place or not.
