Spotlight issue - looks like a volume

I'm having an issue with using the Octane Spotlight in my scene. It's creating what looks like a volume in the render and not sure how to fix or set it up to look like a light instead.

I attached a screenshot below. Any help or advice on how to properly set up the spotlight would be huge thanks!

Hi,

There will be a volume appearing if there is a volume container encompassing the scene or if a volume "spectron" light is utilized.

I've noticed the kernel settings have to be adjusted.
I'd recommend consulting three topics I wrote about:
Octane Lighting
Octane Volumes
Octane Settings

Hi,

Thanks for the response. I took a read through your site, great stuff on there! I appreciate the effort to educate you've put in.

As for the volume, the spotlight isn't encompassed by a volume container. All I did was select the Spotlight feature from Octane's Live Viewer dropdown option and, what you see in the screenshot is what shows up. It looks as if it's a volume, it might not actually be though. But it isn't light, and even when I change the values, nothing changes. I noticed you are using the standalone renderer, I'm only using the live viewer within cinema. Do you know if there is a way to edit/control the spotlight from within cinema?

Also, which kernels did you notice were adjusted? I believe I'm using what Octane provides as native values when starting up a render.

Will continue to read your site! Appreciate it.

Thanks!

About Volume SpotLight in c4doctane, you are using an outdated version 2020.2.1-R3, where the Light medium node was missing from Octane Light tag:

Here is how it looks like if you upgrade c4doctane to 2021.1.7, or 2022.1-R8:

Here is the link to the manual:

Thank you so much Beppe, that makes a lot of sense. I'm going to work on installing the new version to the new version of c4d.
Appreciate it!

Hey Beppe,
When trying to install the new version of Octane on Cinema 2023 I was presented with this error. Attached below. Not sure how to deactivate octane in R23 and transfer it over to 2023. Thanks
