Would it be better a gtx or new quadro?
For example between a gtx480 and a quadro fx5000?
I see many users here have gtx, but I don't know if it is a price before performance related matter.
Thank you

A GTX480 card is best, it's much faster and cheaper.
You might want to consider the new GTX580, it's cooler.

Having a cheaper quadro alongside it driving your display is the best setup due to quadro drivers offering better support for 3d modeling packages.

Thank you very much Radiance...so quadro should be better for modelling purpose while gtx better for rendering phase, is it correct?

Yeah, that seems to be the best combination, Quadro for 3D DCC apps and a 2nd Geforce for Octane use.

and how about gtx470? is there a huge difference between gtx470 and gtx480? pricewise, gtx480 costs about 130-150€ more afaik..
so, is it worth paying more for gtx480 card considering overall performance with octane?

The GTX470 is not a good buy as you can get a 2GB GTX460 much cheaper and it's nearly as fast. (with the much welcome 2GB of memory instead of 1.2GB.

I see, so what would you recommend then in the long run: 2GB GTX460 or to go the whole hog and buy Gigabyte 1,5GB GTX480 which costs twice as much as 460. I mean is it really worth that price?

I'd recommend to get 2x GTX460 2GB :)
