The attachment Screenshot 2021-01-21 at 16.23.17.png is no longer available

Weirdly, now it's displaying PR7, but crashes on render (completely empty scene):

Any ideas why?

Edit: Same with PR5. Hoping I can solve this without having to roll back to Catalina

Hi everyone!

Being brand new to CGI, etc. I'm getting ready to take a 6-week course in Cinema 4D and am wondering if my iMac can get me through the training and use Octane X. Here are my specs:

macOS Catalina
Version 10.15.7 (19H15)
iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)
Processor 3.3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
Memory 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics AMD Radeon R9 M395 2 GB

Thanks for any advice you have. If these specs won't work, can I upgrade a part or two versus purchasing a new $4,000 model?

Hi,
do you also have an Intel GPU in your Mac?
If yes, please disable it in c4doctaneX Settings/Devices panel, and render only with AMD GPUs for now.
If not, please, open a scene, then go to c4doctane Settings/Other tab, and, at the bottom of the panel, enable all the Log option checkboxes.
Then, load the scene in Live View, then in Picture Viewer, or until crash, then reopen c4d, navigate to c4doctane Settings/Other tab, press the Generate log report button, and share the octanelog_report.zip file, thanks.

Hi, it's just AMD. Have DM'ed you my crash log

Also, I think I figured out why it says PR6, because the startup layout was saved when 6 was active. You need to close the octane diaglog and reopen (then re-save startup layout)

I'll ask again. Any ETA on the next update of OctaneX? Is it waiting on macOS 11.2?

Hi all, new to octane here. Am running a Radeon Pro Vega 64 16gb but my renders are maxing out at 18ms/s. On the provisional bench scores listed at the top of this forum it says it was scoring around 16. Running an 8 core intel xeon, was expectingm uch more power. Any ideas why its so low? Have the card set to high priority on the render settings. Also any time i try running AI denoiser it crshes. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi Beppe,

Is there a list of what versions of C4D Ocatne X works with? Does it work with all versions or only some?

I am still having the same issues with Octane X and C4D. The files you have sent have worked better but I am running a simple few spheres that I booled using the volume mesher and I am crashing left and right. It does not have vertex map and so did my last one that gave me so much trouble.

Using the denoiser is still a no go from the get-go, same with the upsampler. I am not sure but it appears if I have anything with a Vertex Map the file becomes very unstable.

Octane X has not been updated in long while and I know it was taken off the stable list but is there any hope for this app anytime soon. The file giving me so much trouble now is one mesh, a camera, two skies, and no lighting yet and it is basically crashing no matter what I do with it.

Hi,
the log shows that the Intel GPU is active, so it crashes, please completely disable it in Settings/Devices panel, and render only with AMD for now:

AI Denoiser is not working in PR7, and must be disabled in both Camera Imager and Render Settings.

C4DOctaneX is available for R21, S22, R23.
Please note that C4D R20 is not well supported in Catalina itself, and older versions are completely not supported in Catalina or newer Os X versions:

A new version is on the go and will be published as soon as ready.
Thanks in advance for your patience.

Thanks, that's odd. I use C4D both with and without my AMD in the eGPU, but never have the 630 activated:
