[21.2] Universal Material node metallic not working

Hi,

If I set any value or put an image into the Metallic pin in the Universal Material node, Octane will stop rendering. You have to set the Specular pin to zero to get the Metallic setting to work. If both Specular or Metallic are above zero it will stop Octane from rendering. To get it to start rendering again, I have to set the viewport shading to Wireframe or Solid and then change it back to Rendered.

Here you go J.C., this doesn't render on my system, all it does is sit at "Waiting for image".

broken-universal.blend

Edit: I just reloaded the .blend and it works in the "Layout" tab if you switch it to rendered, and it works with F12. Where I have the issue is in the "Shading" tab and now looks like it's the same issue I was having when I change settings in a node. Try modifying the Metallic or Specular values and see if it locks up for you.

Your file works fine.
1. Decrease roughness to see the effect better.
2. In Universal material Specular slider works only with Non metallic surfaces so changing it's values doesn't update the viewer if Metallic is set to 1.
3. In Universal material Albedo color works as Metallic tint compared to Metallic material where Specular is used for tinting metallic surface.

Thanks for looking at it J.C. I'm not after the effect, just that this is the simplest test case I could find that breaks on my system. It might be an issue with the Linux version of the plugin? Adjusting nodes in the "Shading" tab can stop Octane from rendering, even for valid materials.

I rarely use stand alone anymore, the plugin is just too convenient. :) I did try the scene in SA and it worked fine. I was able to both have values in the metallic and the specular layers. It didn't stop rendering at anytime as I was modifying the values. Thanks for the help.
