Plugin's version string consists of two parts - version of Octane core integrated into this version of plugin, and the version of the plugin itself.
Format: v<Octane engine version> - <plugin version>

3ds Max version supported: 2013 to 2020

This is a TEST release with new features implemented, so some issues are expected. Please report the bugs in the "Bug reports" section.

Please note that this release is based on Octane 2020.1 XB1, and is not recommended for production work :
As with all experimental and test releases, please do not use this build for production work. We still consider this an experimental build, until we leave the RC status

  Automatic baking is permormed when a standard Bitmap is used as 'Standard texture' in Octane materials. (This can be disabled in a new setting in material tab, "Always Bake Standard Bitmap")
  This allows support of all Bitmap settings, like Cropping / placement.

- Implemented the PhoenixFD simulator support. You need to apply the new "OctaneVolume" modifier on top of simulator object to have access to additional Octane-specific settings. Mapping of PhoenixFD channels to Octane: temperature -> emission, smoke -> apsorption -> scatter, and velocity -> velocity.
- Implemented a feeding of Octane image textures by non-Octane textures input. Now not only BitmapTex can be connected to "bitmap" attribute of Octane image textures. In this case the new "Bake input scale" and "Bake input resolution" attributes of Octane image texture must be tuned accordingly. But I still advise you to not abuse this approach too much, and still use the old efficient way: manually baking the texture to the file and use this file in created Octane image node. Because in the latter case you will do this manual baking only once - when you are creating the texture. But when you use this "on the fly" texture baking approach - the plugin will render (using standard 3ds Max CPU-calculated nodes) and bake every such texture every time during scene translation. So, if you have quite a few of such textures with high baking-resolution set - it will significantly increase the scene translation time. My measures for just one 3ds Max "Marble texture" show about 67ms rendering and baking it into 512x512 image buffer, and about 1500ms to do the same into 4092x4092 image buffer. Multiply this by amount of your non-Octane textures in the Octane scene - and you will get the overall slowdown time of every translation stage (the CPU-stage before Octane even starts to render on GPU).

1. When denoising texture sky turns dark when denosied beauty is chosen.

2. Phoenix fd fire particles with Octane particle modifier are still not working!!!!!!!!! Please fix it we've been waiting for this fix for 3 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for your scene.
I couldn't reproduce the crash, and it's not obvious to investigate this scene as there are 3 other plugins involved, and I don't have CityTraffic;
also without textures, it's hard to tell how things should be rendered..
Here is what I get on camera01 with 6.17, 8.15 and 10.01..

Could you post corresponding screenshots of your scene, and point what is correct ?
Or preferably post a smaller scene without CityTraffic (and maybe without MadCar), to check only issues related to Forest pack ?

I tested several other samples with Forest pack, and didn't notice issues with this 10.01 version or differences with 8.15 related to Forest pack.

Thanks for reporting those issues.
For 1 : I guess it's the same with Octane Stand Alone, so there's not much we can do on the 3dsmax plugin side. I'll check and report the issue to the engine team if that's the case.
For 2: the particle modifiers are supposed to work only with the liquid simulators, and the volume modifiers works with the fire simulators.
But as there can be particles in the fire simulator, I'll investigate how to make it work shortly.

As far as fire particles they worked in octane 4 but since octane 2018 they dont work anymore

-in Forest object properties (eg for '! A Body Small for A platform', set Display / Render / Mode to Meshes instead of Automatic.

I'll check the fire particles soon.
For Phoenix FD 4, sorry, no extra feature supported yet, but there was some crashes when using phoenix4..so that is fixed now..

Thanks. Hopefully itoo will be fixed (octane 4 renders it fine even if source mesh is set to nonrenderable). I'll try method 1 unfortunately display mesh will kill our performance since we got hundreds of cars.
Two more things:
1. There used to be a problem with multiple phoenix fire grids that was fixed in octane 4. Now it looks like it is back. Two grids each frame take 40-50 sec to process plus no image for 20 sec it just says "rendering". The solution before was to uncheck create fire lights in phoenix rendering settings. Before it would takes seconds to process now it's back to 30-50 sec per frame. Same size sim files. Please also see the video attached. This is just one grid processing and then you will see RENDERING but nothing happens for like 10 sec. Scenes with phoenix and itoo do this a lot now. In octane 4 we never had this problem

UPDATE: Just did a test with 2 phoenix fire grids 1 min to process and 10 sec of black screen where it says rendering
Hiding both grids 1 sec to process and 5 sec of black rendering screen
Each sim per frame for each grid is 250 mb

2. please look into new volume behavior vs old. New one renders smoke too dark

"I'm checking one of the previous scene you sent (overlapping grid.zip), and found that all Fire simulators (PhoenixFDFire001, ..) have the Rendering set to Volumetric mode,
with Volumetric Options /Fire 'Create Fire Lights' enabled.
That creates thousands of Omni lights at evaluation time, and this is very slow, and not used by Octane..
After disabling those, the evaluation time changed from ~6 minutes to 7 seconds ! ..

Can you check if you have such lights enabled in your scene ?

I found some other issues with this scene, that could be related to motion blur sample set to more than 2..
You could try if setting '2' also improves evaluation time ..

If your scene has no Fire lights or is still slow, could you PM it to me ? (I tried some simple empty grids, but couldn't see much slowdown)

goog evening, i am testin this version with octanerender and i see don't appear into the render the trees and leaves in the scene, maybe a bug or the forest present a problem ?
