Sorry for the late replies on this.

I've got a table lamp in my scene. What if I want a spot light in it? What do I do?
I suggest adding a plane inside the light and creating an emitter material for that plane. I put an area light in the light and convert it to an emitter using the plugin Geometry tab button.

Also do lights work with ambient occlusion?
I think so (but have not tried - so experiment for yourself).

Im getting this error message whenever I click "create emitter" when I regular rectangular rhino light is selected: https://peterrz.tinytake.com/tt/Mzg3Njk5OV8xMTg2OTY4Nw
What version of the plugin are you running please?

Thanks

Paul

I'm working with the Rhino plugin, Paul. Does your guidance still apply?

Oh, wow, Paul. I'm sorry. You asked which version of the plugin I have and I responded with "the Rhino plugin". I should have said "4.5.01.111".

Am I up to date? :)

Hi Paul, sorry for the late reply. This issue has been resolved since the update. However yesterday I found Rhino crashed 9 out of 10 times when I tried to simply select a new octane material. It got to a point that I could not move forward with the render and had to quit entirely. Any ideas for an update to fix this? Thanks.

You can check the release thread to determine this at https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=69577 (and there is a more recent version than what you have installed).

If you have a problem with the plugin, can you please provide all the information requested at https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=72388 and provide a screenshot of the error you are getting.

Thanks
