I'm running into an issue where having displacement on a material on 1 mesh, causes materials on other meshes to become faceted

1. Load the orbx and select the render target to render

NOTE: The 2 teapots look faceted

2. Disconnect the "displace%Default" material/nodegraph from the abc node

RESULT: Now the smoothing on the teapots is correct (smooth)

Please let me know from which plugin did you export this scene?

New edges rounding shading errors

Postby J.C » Wed Oct 02, 2019 9:05 am

New edges rounding has shading errors compared to eg. Cycles implementation.
This faceted look happens on all types of meshes.

OctaneRender™ 2019.1.1 unable to install slaves

Postby useruser » Wed Oct 02, 2019 9:10 am

useruser Wed Oct 02, 2019 9:10 am
hello,
something is going wrong with the slave-installer ( win 10)
i got this errormessage:
slave-licence-Error.jpg

i have one all-acess licence, so one slave is also included

thanks in advance

edit@ i disabled the old active v4 licence on the slave-workstation, now it works.

edit2@ it works exactly one time, restart the slaveworkstation and now the errormessage appears again:

slave-licence-Error.jpg

the latest RC3 worked also with the slave-workstation without problems. this "stable"-version not.

These edge rounding errors happen on virtually every model, even very simplistic ones. I has to work on curved surfaces, not just cubes.

MODO left, Octane right (thx)

Greg you probably mean the other way around, modo LEFT side, octane RIGHT side?

BTW i found that Octane 2019.1.1 is slower than octane v4.05 so that should be another thing which DEVs should fix/optimize.

I made a copy of Greg's rounded edge example in case the devs need an orbx
