Hi all,

This is a small maintenance release for V4 for a couple of issues that came up.

As before: we recommend that you update to driver version 419.17 or later.

License upgrade

Unless you have a subscription license, you will have to upgrade your version 3 licenses to version 4. This upgrade is free and can be done via these 4 steps:

  1. Go to https://home.otoy.com/render/octane-render/purchase/
  2. Select "Upgrade" in the top menu.
  3. Click on "UPGRADE NOW" next to "Upgrade existing licenses to OctaneRender 4".
  4. Select the licenses you want to upgrade and confirm.

If you have any issues during this process, please get in touch with our support team.

New GPU requirements

To use this version, you need a GPU of compute model 3.0 or higher. Support for Fermi GPUs (like GTX 4xx and 5xx) has been dropped. Also make sure you use a driver of version 419.17 or higher and if you are working on Mac OS that have a CUDA driver installed that supports at least CUDA 9.1.

Changes since version 4.04:

  • Fixed emission if "keep instance power" is enabled and sampling rate is 0.0.
  • Fixed mistake causing names and labels of some dynamic pins returned by the Lua API to be empty.

Links updated 21/6/19 to fix splash screen version number.

PLEASE must fix or undo PMC kernel issues!

VERY IMPORTANT:
I want sooo more than 1 million spp (samples per pixel) for regions picked only (eg: " [1.45197e+006] 39662/500000 s/px ... " at black bar on v2.x).

Great Guys! It's working perfectly , thanks for that appreciate would be great to have a engine update on the plug aswell from Jim I will ask him. Also would be great to have this fixes on the 2018's versions and future 2019's.

A tiny, but obvious issue :) : the inconsistencies in version information on window title, splash/about screen (4.04) and in file properties (File/Product version : 4.5.0.0 / 4.5.0.0)
AMD R7-2700/64Gb/RTX2080Ti 11Gb + RTX2080 8Gb/Win10 Pro x64/nV driver 451.67/Poser10, DS4.12, Blender2.79, Octane 4.05 Standalone

as far as i can tell since V4.04 standalone bug:
[according to changes in this 4.05 post this doesn't seem to have been fixed]

if you have your timeline set to a frame other than 0, your batch render will replace frame 0 (animated image sequence?) textures with some of that other current frame's (animated image sequence?) textures due to them not being reloaded (reason i am saying animated sequence is because i am not sure. not a big issue when a frame only takes 10 seconds, I can re-render, but some other folk might not be able to so easily. other than that V4 standalone has been very solid lately

sadly i can't provide exact file where this is happening right now due to job reason, hope my description helps still

Hi There,

After using this version for a while I find a interesting bug problem, compare to Octane 3.06 and the 4.05 there is a clear slowdown on the sampling at 3.06 I have "25ms/sec" I have in 10 seconds close to "400s/px" and at 4.05 I have "0.020ms/sec" sometimes lower like "0.01ms/sec" and get "1s/px" after 25 seconds :o which is crazy slow after one minute I still get 4 samples, I also tried on 2019XB2 for test is compiling the scenes really slow but the samples is better getting more close to the "25ms/sec" of the 3.06 but freezes at begging and after is getting unstable sampling, between "0.020ms/sec" to "10ms/sec".

I tested same scene with a 1080ti windows 10, also with sets on windows 7 and different GPU 700's and 900's series same results.

I could share the scene but I need on private for security and private reasons.

Please let me know.

Best,
JO

Hi Guys,

After further test I find the bug is based on instances type I upload the scene on this link here :

https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=71853&p=365558#p365558

Look design is the same between 3.06.4 to 4.05 only new 2000's version is looking different shader side but here 4.05 has a trouble to recognize a particular type of instance recognized before at 3.06.4
Please also pay a close attention on memory usage at the same scene? 3.06 uses close to 285mb, 4.05 uses 495mb and 2019RC1 uses 616mb

Best,
JO

Hello!
Fix, please, noisy and fireflied Shadow Pass while using Render Layer feature.
The problem is not in samples count.
I use a c4d plugin, but user bepeg4d confirmed that issue is related to Octane core SDK

Thank you
