question about instancing

Hello,
working with a lot of vegetation, one thing i find a bit of a bottleneck is how Octane works with Lw instances - at least in my usage :)
Octane seems to need i setup instancers and after this i can open IPR - then all tweaks are correctly seen. Otherwise i get following issues, maybe there is something i can do to improve my workflow:

- If i create an instancer while Octane renders, it seems it is not able to see it, no matter which options i turn ON in rendertarget. I simply have to reload full scene in order to see new instancers. Any workaround to have a more fluent workflow without so many reloads ?

- Same if i want to turn it off - i have to turn off the items inside the instancer and reload scene. It seems Octane does not care about instancer being on or off, it seems i have to go inside each instancer and turn all items off, OR turn off items used into an instancer using scene editor, and then reload. Any smarter workflow, or option to tweak ?

- In large scenes i may want to make tests on a single instancer, without loading full scene. Is there a way to "isolate" an instancer and it's items so IPR does not load everything ? I know there is a "selected onlY" option in IPR, but it works after it loaded full scene... it would be cool if i could select the instancer and run IPR loading just that and it's internally loaded items. Anything i can do ?

thanks in advance,
Paolo

+1

and same happens when:
- turn on/off an object in the scene editor,
- turn on/off the smoothing in surfaces,
- replace an image used as texture...

Some of these issues are related to limitations on the LightWave side, but perhaps some kind of option to at least reload only the selected objects could be possible. I'll think about it ...

hi Juanjo, thanks for answering.
Since Octane is widely used in LW community, i wonder if NT is aware of these communication limits and if they're working on these.
I.e. a realtime response to ON/OFF switch of any item and instancers would be really a big improvement in Octane usage.

Thanks,
Paolo

This would be a big step to speed up the workflow with big scenes.

Thank you
