When exporting to ORBX Blender Octane creates a temporary Alembic file in Users/User Name/livedb/alembic.
I noticed that after the ORBX is successfully exported to whatever its final destination is (for me a NAS) the ABC is converted to another ORBX file but is not deleted. It stays in the Users livedb directory. When exporting large files – particularly fluid sims - it is not unusual to wind up with 20 – 30 GB ORBX files. Why aren’t these files automatically removed after a successful export? This is a sure way of quickly clogging up ones system drive.
This also brings me to another question: Is it possible to set a different drive where these “temporary” files are created during ORBX export? I recently had an incident where ORBX export failed because my system drive at the time had only 20 GB remaining but the ORBX must have needed more temporary space for completion. Being able to customize the path and drive where these files are created during ORBX export would elevate such situations.
Please let me know if this functionality currently exists, or if I should put it in as a feature request.
