C. RAM Capacity (i.e. 6 GB)
D. Nvidia driver version (i.e. 7.50, 7.5.22)
E. OctaneRender Standalone version, if installed (i.e. 2.24.2, 2.23, etc.)
F. OctaneRender plugin version (i.e. v2.25 - 2.21)
G. Host application version, including build number if available (i.e. 3ds Max 2016 Build 18.0)

Displacement geometry problem

Hi,
I made two identical objects and applied a displacement map to one of them. The most of displacement texture is black, meaning no displacement. The result is unexpected. See pics below. How to fix?

Second picture is same but with opacity map (same texture as for displacement).
The displacement setting are also attached.

Hi vitgaus,
you can not work with coplanar surfaces; moreover maybe you have problems with smooth objects, normal and probably some issues with Unwrapping.
you should set mid level to 0.5 best using 32bit texture.

Well, those are two independent surfaces, although identical, meaning I can do Unwrapping with no problems. But trick with mid level works fine, THX!

Actually this is the car steer wheel model and I tryed to make stitches with displacement, as shown here:
