3.08 has been here for over three months now.
For over three months I have not been able to use it because of the missing offline mode.

I can't even begin to express how deeply disappointed I am by Otoy's behavior.

Hi Zoppo,
the devs are working on it, as soon as it will be ready, it will be added in one of the next release.
In the meantime, please note that OctaneRender activation needs only few kbytes, and a cellphone with gprs connection can be used for this task.
Also note that you need the internet connection only on start, for authentication, and before exit for deactivation. So you can use a cellphone for connecting to internet before starting your host application with plugin, or Standalone.
Disconnect from the internet after activation and work with OctaneRender.
And finally reconnect to the internet just before closing Standalone or the host app, to correctly deactivating the licenses.
In this way you can work in a sort of Offline mode also with 3.08.x, obviously, you cannot have access to the LiveDB section while you are without internet connection.
ciao Beppe

Hi Beppe,

I really appreciate your effort to help me out, but I'm afraid this is not the way to go.

My 3 Windows clients are in the server room and besides not having a mobile connection in there I would not know how to connect the clients to my phone ... would have to do this x3 ... every morning and again every evening.

I simply don't understand how a company can scratch a working system without a working replacement. I know we had this before with C4D's switch from a working netrender to a barely functional team render system but I am sure you remember how pissed people were about that and how long it took for Maxon to fix its reputation. Besides the TR was at least barely functional ...

Ciao

Please contact [email protected] and we'll help you out - I'll personally see to it. We've been working diligently on making offline mode easier and more reliable in the new system, both for 3.08 and 4.0, and it has taken a lot of time to get this right. Sorry for the wait. We think it is both necessary and worthwhile for all, and once it is done, it's done.

Dear Developers,

We noticed a strong change in the behaviour of scattering medium.
There might be a bug in the the way scattering is calculated together with opacity maps.

In the attached image you can see the difference.
Could you please fix this or explain if this is a new behaviour?

Kind regards
Filipe

Yes, either today or tomorrow.
