Hi Paride,

Can you please tell me how I can put in my render passes an additional texture? Similar to Vray extratext

Also how can I properly save Layered OpenEXR file using OctaneRender Viewport?

Thank you

Hi SergKlyosov,
that option does not exist, you can do it in compositing, try to post your request here:

Hi,
That is sad, that we can't use additional map slot in render passes

Regarding saving layered EXR - I have a lot of issues
1) When I press "Save" in OctaneViewport and choose OpenEXR, then add Render elements - 3ds max saves all elements in separate files. For example if I chose 10 render elements - it will create 10 different files for them
2) I have installed Octane plugin for Photoshop. I'm running latest version of Adobe software - 19.1.3, and when I try to open beauty multi layered EXR - photoshop shows me only empty layers with couple pixels on each layer, which is obviously wrong

So how I can properly save ONE openEXR file which will contain all my render passes and won't save any additional files per render element?
And how I can resolve issue with opening that EXR in Photoshop?

I've attached couple screenshots

Hi Paride, thank you for the reply

1) I did exactly what you showed in that screenshot, but photoshop still opens that exr in incorrect wat. It sees only beauty pass and rest of the render elements are transparent with couple dots in them
2) When I'm saving exr - it still saves a lot of separate files for each render pass. And when I'm saving huge renders about 12k wide - it takes a while to save all those passe, I want to save only one file with all elements

I've tried reinstall the plugin, reinstall photoshop, but nothing has helped. It still opens wrong
I even downloaded ZXP installer and tried manually install it, but received error message

Hi Paride,

So I investigate this issue further
Regular render - saves only 1 .EXR file, which includes all render passes and it opens in photoshop perfectly
But with OctaneRender viewport it is saving a lot of individual passes and definitely has some bug with saving multilayered EXR which need to be fixed by developers

In conclusion: I want OctaneRender viewport behavior like regular render window, save only one layered File. So how I can avoid of saving multiple files from OctaneViewprot?
The cons of using regular render window - I can't save render passes till render will complete all samples which was defined in Kernel settings. And you don't really know how many passes you will need to clear noise for certain image, thath's why I'm using OctaneRender viewport on a daily basis

Also it will be really great to have ability to cancel OctaneViewport and then restart in from saved file

Hi SergKlyosov,
I see what you mean, I will ask to velopers to add multilayers option and check that beauty layer issue you reported.
