Try changing the skinning method to Figure->Skinning Method->Poser Unimesh.

changed it to no avail. i tried changing it to all of the figures as well (shoes/socks and the figure itself). same results. what else can it be?

I'm not sure - sorry. I have never seen that before. Double check that all body parts of the figure are scaled to 100%. And try deleting the shoes to see if that fixes it.

I deleted all the props and rendered only the figure. same result. thats a basic V4 with morph++ and a Eliza (renderosity). it renders perfectly in firefly. the issue is within OR and the import process...

The legs render normally for me with Eliza morphs applied.

It does not look like a mesh break either. It almost looks as if there is negative displacement active. But the supplied skin textures of Eliza do not have displacement maps.
Is there a displacement node active in material for the feet? Check in the plugin material.

you are a mere genius. I disconnected the displacement and the issue solved!

now, I'm trying to figure out what happened: I applied the Eliza to an improved V4 model I've created many years ago. I remember that I tweaked her foot prints to improve them...I re-shaped a displacement map with some high resolution images that I shot, and create toe-prints for V4. it worked in poser firefly (I think it was a displacement map, but its been a while...), but maybe this is what caused the problem!

Ok, look at the displacement map and see if it is a black or gray zero level map. If you see actual black in the displacement map, it is most likely a black zero level map.
Set the mid level to 0. This will fix it.

I am currently writing some kind of tutorial/user guide in which I explain and show all of these little things. Not sure when that is finished, but in it will be all of those questions you asked.

Having said that - most of the questions are indeed generic Octane questions as Paul said and the Octane tutorials will explain those. I will focus mostly on where Octane is different from Poser and how to get those done in Octane.

Just in case anybody else bumps into the same issue, I've managed to solve it.

I had a displacement, as wimVdb mentioned, that wasn't came originally with the figure. when I disconnected it, the render worked properly, but I lost the displacement's purpose (in this case = realistic wrinkles on her soles).

played around. kept the discplacement and changed displacement --> texture --> mid level from 0.5 to 0. problem solved! :)
