I tried it again and I get a longer error message than a few minutes ago:

That all seems to be in order BUT you missed out the registry entries fro the Web-dialog it should look like this [Google > Sketchup 8]
Capture.PNG

I suspect it will look like this ?
try deleting that entry and trying SUp & the Exporter again...

I notice your default browser is 'Chrome' - can you change it temporarily to IE or FireFox and see if that has any affect...
It shouldn't but I have no better ideas right now

Thanks for you patience - we will get this fixed. :geek:

Hi Tig,

I have both SU 7 and 8 installed.
I installed the SU plugin on both directories.
Su7 is able to launch the dialog box and render and V8 doesn't.
I think it worked at one point, but not anymore.
I tried rebooting etc.. but to no avail.
I tried going back to 1.05 but same thing...

Some more info:
When trying to launch Octane from SU8 with an empty scene I get the dialog box "You must save this...."
This is good !

But when I create a simple scene (a box) and save it, clicking on the octane icon doesn't so anything and the icon stays depressed.
The file name and the directory path do not have spaces or foreign characters.

After browsing for project path and delete the spacing but exporter keep telling me this. So please TIG what can I do.

Previous folder name was in chinese but later i changed to new path with english based folder. It's that causing this problem?

Thank you TIG

TIG,

This seams to be the problem
CaptureRegedit2.JPG

When i remove all the registry items and i restart sketchup and execute octane again. New registry items are build but still the size and position of the dialog are missing....

Guy

The 'special-character' check/error-message was introduced in this version to trap problem with Sketchup's Ruby's ability to process Unicode characters in file-names/paths.
If you revert to version 1022-05 do you still get this problem ?
Having file-paths and project-names with 'ASCII' characters [A-Za-z0-9_-] should always work - can you ensure that they are have that format and retry with this version - post any error [or success] stories...

That Registry entry is now incomplete because the webdialog is failing to load completely - for some reason.
The long Console error-messages are simply a secondary result of the webdialog not being available...

So to recap...
We know that the Exporter's code is getting to the point where it tries to make the webdialog.
It isn't successfully making it.
This suggests that there's something in its html code that fails to load properly on this combination of applications.
It loads and runs OK in Win7, SUp v7 - with Chrome as your default browser.
B_U_T it fails to load the very same code in SUp v8 with Chrome !
For most users on Vista/Win7 - with IE or FireFox - it loads OK in SUp v7 OR v8...
So we must deduce that the problem lies with your current setup and the way SUp v8 interacts with your default browser ?
Can you try alternative default wed-browsers and see what happens in SUp v8...
Can you also check what version of IE is currently loading.
I don't use Chrome - are there any subtle option settings that you could try adjusting to see what they do ?

Are there any users out there with Win7, SUp v8 AND Chrome [as the default-browser] AND getting satisfactory results with the Exporter...

TIG,

I tried internet explorer 8 and it doesn't solve the problem.

This is most strange as it works for almost everyone else with much the same set up.
Your files/folder contents seem fine too...

What's your version of IE ?

Unfortunately there's still not enough bits to nail the problem [yet]...
Can you try right-clicking on the SUp launch Desktop icon/shortcut and using 'run as administrator' [or whatever it's called in Win7], then try the Export again - I'm wondering if now it's a 'rights' issue...

Although you clearly have access rights to the ../Plugins/Octane/ folder, but...
Can you also check that the OctaneDialog.html file in the ../Plugins/Octane/ folder is the same in the v8 set as in the v7 [working] version, in case something is wrong there...

Can you also post the error message part about '...invalid dialog...' again...

I'm thinking of making a special version of the code ruby/html for you to try out - with extra messages / warnings etc...
I'll see what I can do after your reply - I have to go to the dentist :o right now so perhaps later
