Hi all,

Just a quick update - the Linux tests have gone well thus far (thankfully the issues that were causing the last Linux version to crash completely have now been resolved. I am expecting to update the most current release post with this version soon. In future, we will aim to release all three ports simultaneously, as was done previously.

Bug Reports are being actively pursued, and we will be looking at the next major milestones for Blender development that we can expect in the near future (and in the long term).

Hopefully everybody has been enjoying the latest Blender release overall. We thank you for your time, effort, and patience.

Cheers,
Azen

Will the next plugin release include a build with Blender 2.79?

And can you also let us know when ORBX import will be added?

Hi,

I can confirm that Blender will be built with version 2.79 once Octane 3.07 is stable. This new version is still in its testing stage, but should be declared stable very soon. I will need to seek confirmation on ORBX import, but it is a work in progress.

Cheers,

What about stable 3.06 version. Will it be skipped?

Hi J.C.

The current 3.06 is considered Stable. Since the ports came out one at a time, it was decided not to call it stable until all three were released. There was a chance that at least one of the versions would be less stable than the others - it seems this is not the case, so now the release as a whole is marked stable now.

There are still reported issues that are being targeted, and these will be present in 3.07. Once Octane 3.07 is declared stable, the next version should be available a few weeks after that. The challenges around porting Blender have been overcome with the current version, so we should be able to release all three versions simultaneously.

An announcement will be posted regarding 3.07 soon.

Cool!
I hope, someday, we will be able to import .vdb from Houdini or other programmes.

Is'nt that something you can implement in the Octane Blender version? ;-)
I don't have the patience to wait for Blender Foundation.

Hi all,

Just to let you know - the latest 3.07 version is currently being tested internally, and will be released early this week. A number of fixes and improvements will come with this release. Also, this will be a return to the simultaneous release of all versions for the plugin (as opposed to the gradual roll-out that occurred last time).

Cheers,
Azen
