Maya crashes/hangs on render

Hi everyone,
I just purchased a subscription to OctaneVR and installed the Maya plugin. I'm testing it out and unfortunately have run into a big problem. When I go to hit Render, Maya freezes and becomes unresponsive. The IPR render works great. The standalone renderer works great. I just can't hit render or use the batch renderer.

If this helps, I tried uninstalling Maya and the plugin and then reinstalled everything (tried multiple versions). I managed to get a SINGLE render of a sphere with a diffuse texture out, but when I tried it again, it froze and could not get it to happen again unless i uninstalled and reinstalled everything. Even then, it would only work once before the issue came back, and it would not work everytime I reinstalled.

This issue happens regardless of the scene. For example, I can't even render a blank scene.

I'm on :
Mac OS 10.12.5
Maya 2017 (tried with update pack 1-4)
OctaneVR 3.06.4 for Maya
NVidia Driver 378.05.05.15f01
CUDA 8.0.83
TitanXp (pascal)

Just an update, I swapped out the TitanXp card with a 1080Ti and I'm still having the same issues. Again IPR and standalone work fine. I'm not sure what to try next.
