This is a TEST version, so be prepared to have some issues. Don't use it for production.

Maya® Version Requirements

This release will work with Maya® Versions 2015, 2016, 2016.5 and 2017 64-bit on MS Windows operating systems, 2015, 2016, 2016.5 and 2017 64-bit on Linux operating systems, and 2016, 2016.5 and 2017 64-bit on OSX operating systems (including and above 10.9).

COMPATIBILITY AND OCTANERENDER STANDALONE REQUIREMENT

To run OctaneRender™ for Maya®, you need to also have an activated OctaneRender™ Standalone copy activated on the machine you wish to install the plugin onto.
You cannot purchase and use only the Maya plugin and use it without also owning an activated copy of Octan eRender™ Standalone on your machine.

For network slave and daemon please download standalone installer here:

The material convert command now works but the conversion from Maya materials is very wrong !

Maya transparency is converted to octane opacity as is, but opacity is the inverse of transparency !!
As a result opaque Maya Materials are converted to completely transparent Octane Materials :?

Also previously when a Maya material had transparency it was converted to Octane specular material,
now Maya material are never converted to specular only diffuse and glossy,
maya transparency was the only way to get specular materials...

So logicaly transparency should be translated to invert opacity
but people are never expecting opacity from a converter,
they need refraction !!! so basicaly acting as previous version of the converter convert to specular when transparency is not black,
or maybe convert to specular material only when refraction is enabled? (and getting IOR at the same time )

But to be honnest I think most user needing to convert Maya material to Octane Materials are people importing geometry and Materials from other software trough FBX.
FBX don't import refraction setting but use maya transparency attribute to fake the refraction.
So the way the converter was working before was a better match (convert Maya materials with transparency to octane specular),
also is missing the convertion for file textures plugged in other attributes than the base color !!

So this is not yet safe for production, right Calus? Or, if you don't use Material Conversion, the rest is working fine? Did they solve the Normal map problem?

Yes normal map problem is solved,
I didn't find any new major issue in this version (except material conversion),
but obviously I can't test everything in every version so I can't be sure.

For me, fixed issues and improvements (adaptive sampling, export selection, Octane UVsets, ....) worth taking the risk so I use this version now.
I still can go back to previous stable version if I meet a showstopper bug.
