hi guys,
i'm trying different glass materials and have the same issue with all of them, material its ok but depending on the viewing angle (when close to 90°) the glass turns to black with strange effects ( like gasoline on a ground) my mesh is a low poly not flat. i would like to get rid of that effect. any idea?

s.

Hi djiin,
it's always a good idea to post some screenshots, anyway, I'm guessing, probably you have to increase the Specular depth in the kernel settings

thank you beppe,
yeah i've tried that, i've tried to 32, it does something but not removes all that strange black effect, weird.
also sorry i can't post any screenshots with projects i'm working on (confidentiality..) but i'm gonna try to mimic that on another mesh to post.

thanks

If your specular material is complex (such as diamond, 3D star...) or the number of specular materials is 2 or more then you should increase to 100 specular depthes. ;)

EDIT: See - Very high spec depthes for remove blacks :)
NOTE: I'm sorry for bad english due to mute ;)

Not really a proper fix. However i have found with any really shiny materials...that if the glass is against something, it will turn black. try to put the other objects around it at least 0.01 way from it.
