Hello there.

Any good news?

Um still using a 2014 version for stability reasons, and a lack of many great features.

Cheers

Still living a daily nightmare, options re-setting, not being able to take work home, no render channels urg

Hi everybody,

Just a quick update on progress - aside from miscellaneous bug fixes, the Cap is working to finalize the file format for scenes. This will be the bedrock for all future releases, and thus time and care is being taken to ensure that this is completely final. Also, the new plugin will be running on Octane 3.06, which will be due for release by next week barring any major bugs.

The documentation is also being overhauled, seeing as much of it is made redundant by the new changes.

Cheers,
Azen

I'd like to lose another beer and bet we don't see fully functional nodal approach this month ;)

Yeah it's still very bizarre the focus of render developers is so centered on VFX and associated softwares, despite the construction industry being the third largest on Earth...And so many Art Directors are using SU for projects. Literally millions of people use SU every day. It's a shame this plugin has had such a frustrating birth that lingers on and on, and people have to waste so much time exporting and losing all native functions.

I don't know any architects bureau that is not using SU. It becomes the most popular 3D software for quick and easy design. A friend of mine is using SU amongst Cad for some installation designs.

Hurry up guys.

I totally agree. Turns out SU is a superb modeling tool for Unity. It's integration is stellar (other than the fact it's only good up to SU2015). Plus, the smoothing issues, which are so important to good modeling on low poly moels, are carefully controlled in SU. And now with the new UV mapping tool WrapR, we can expect better UVs as well. Also, Octane has already committed to working with Unity so it seems like a SU baking tool from them would be great.
