OctaneRender™ Standalone 3.02

Hi all,

This is stable release of version 3 Standalone providing various fixes, workarounds and support for network proxies.

Changes since version 3.01.1

  • Added network proxy support (see viewtopic.php?f=24&t=54803).
  • Duplicated UV values are now merged when subdividing to make sure that OpenSubdiv 3 considers adjacent UV triangles to be continuous.
  • Refactored the system that keeps track of the number of concurrent uses of a license on the system. We originally used a third-party library for this which unfortunately crashed in some circumstances. It's now simply file based and should be more robust. Please note that only Octane instances of version 3.02 and higher can be tracked with this system and that you close older versions before you sign out.
  • Fixed crash when deleting a scripted graph while the script editor is open.
  • Fixed various issues and problems during startup.
  • You can now control the file associations for the Standalone on Windows via File -> Preferences -> Application -> File associations.
  • Made ALT key modifier work on Linux.
  • OSX builds are now compiled using Xcode 6.4 on OSX 10.11. Please report any issues that may be related to the change. (The oldest supported Mac OS version is still 10.6).
  • Linux builds are now compiled using GCC 4.8 on CentOS 6.7 which should hopefully make it compatible to the Linux VFX reference platform again.

CUDA requirements

Due to a CUDA compiler bug we had to switch to CUDA 7.5, which means on Windows and Linux you may need to update your NVIDIA graphics driver to a current version which supports at least CUDA 7.5. On Mac OSX you may have to update the CUDA driver for Mac to a current version supporting at least CUDA 7.5.

Yesterday I forgot to modify the CUDA binary selection to add support for compute model 3.7 (see viewtopic.php?p=279508#p279508) so I did it this morning and made this Windows test build:
https://render.otoy.com/customerdownloa ... st_win.zip

Please let me know if that works for the Tesla K80s or not. Thanks.

Hi,

I just upgraded my Nividia driver on a laptop with a Quadro K2000M (Pilot : 368.39 Cuda : 8.0.0) and now Octane crashes at start with the version 3 as well as the version 2.
The laptop freezes and the only solution is to shutdown and restart it.
Any idea to solve this issue ?
Thanks
