Hi guys,
I'm currently testing the Octane demo, and I have to admit that live rendering is awesome. It totally changes the workflow and I'd really like to invest in 3 licenses for my company.
However, we are currently running on imac 27' with nvidia 680M 2G and 780M 4G ; on Yosemite as we had to upgrade macOS to install the latest Cuda drivers. (thank you apple) We work on C4D.
AND we had a lot of crashes in just a few days whereas our computers almost never crash usually. By crash, I mean a freeze of the whole computer. We also had several times lines (the buggy green and purple lines) here and there on the screen, maybe because octane is putting a lot of pressure on the GPU. Plus cinema4D froze several times, or appeared to be unstable (some views are flashing black when you want to display diffrent views) ...
So it begins to be a lot of problems and I am wondering : is Octane really a good call for an imac ? Should we stick to CPU rendering for now ?
Thank you for sharing your experience with me.
