Poser pro 2012 not liking Octane 1.20a win64

Was running perfectly with Octane 1.10 until today when I upgraded to Octane 1.20a.

Poser now presents me with this:

Kind of a 'generic' error...really doesn't say squat, does it. Any ideas? Anyone run into this?

Thanks all!!

Win 7 (64 bit) 24 GB ram, i7 970 (6-core), 2 Nvidia 670s, and of course poser 2012 (64-bit) with Octane for Poser 1.20.2). Only Octane itself has been changed out.

Hi - I haven't seen this before. The main difference between 1.10 and 1.20 is that there is a higher Cuda driver version number requirement. So first question is....what Cuda drivers do you have loaded? Does Octane Standalone 1.20 run? Do you have SLI Disabled?

Wow that was QUICK Paul! Thanks! :)

SLI IS currently disabled (gotta have it for my games ya know)
Octane stand alone DOES run by itself.
And the driver version for the GTXs is 9.18.13.1407?! At least thats what Device Manager says. Hmmm.

BUT would that cause Poser to act so funky?

Just rolled back to 1.10 and everything is fine, so maybe I do need new drivers...

Thanks

Just installed the latest Nvidia drivers...I WAS behind! Way behind. My bad.

BUT-here's a question for you Paul...

If I have two instances of Octane installed (1.10 and 1.20)...how does your plugin decided which flavor to use? Or do I need to uninstall the older one?

Thanks.

The Poser plugin is compiled against a specific version of Octane (1.20.1 for the latest release), and is completely independent of whatever version of Standalone you have installed.

Understood...

...but, I both Octane 1.10 AND 1.20 installed at the moment. I curious which version of Octane the plugin is using. Or does it matter?

BTW, if I'm failing to grasp the obvious, I blame it on the 2nd rum and coke I'm currently enjoying!

Thanks

The plugin is not using Octane Standalone - so it doesn't matter which version is installed, or it can be not installed at all and the Poser plugin will still run.

Problem got solved...somehow. I did several things (reinstalled the plugin, updated drivers, ran some disk management utilities) before running Poser again, so something in all that got Poser happy again.

Still it was a curious problem. Thanks again!
