What's your Poser/Plugin/Standalone workflow?

Hi. I just installed a 7704gb last night, and purchased and installed Octane. My question is this: do most of you simply use the plugin to render, or do you move the file to the standalone version? I'm trying to get up to speed in a hurry as I use Poser for court visualization, and I have a case looming, and I am really excited to bring this new level of realism to the renders!

Regards and thanks so much for the help AND for the great software!

Yes, I'm reading that. I was wondering if people preferred to work in the standalone via some sort of "sent to standalone" command.

I used to export .obj to the standalone from Carrara before there was this plugin, but I've since moved back to Poser, because the plugin is really a time saver as opposed to doing .obj exports all the time. With all the features the plugin has and continues to get, there is no point in using the standalone anymore, especially if you're using Poser props and figures. You can go back and forth editing and tweaking, and you see what you're doing in Octane in real time.

My $ 0.02.

Thanks for that input. It will save me some time for sure. Octane is what made me dust off Poser after several years of being out of 3d. And of course, now I'm planning a new multi gpu build. Now if NVidia will just make a mother board with a 770 onboard.

Definitely worth reading the manual - doesn't take long. The plugin is designed for very quick workflow, and there should never be a need to export to Standalone. I no longer even bother doing test renders with Firefly. I setup the scene in Poser, then open the Octane Viewport and tweak the pose and materials from there.

Yes I was able to get my first render done without the manual...that's a testament to useability! Looking forward to this a lot!
