textured obj files into lightwave

hi,
when i import textured obj file in lightwave and use Octane plugin i cant see any textures, in fact no texture are applied as octane material.. but lighwave shows all the textures in viewport and lightwave renders.

Is there any way to get pre-textured objs in lightwave that can be rendered with octane plugin.
assigning all the textures manually is a pain for big scene.

Octane standalone imports objs with textures with no problems but octane for lightwave does not do the same.

please help.

thanks

Yeah, you do have to hit them with octane materials in surface node editor...

Goes pretty flippin' fast once you get used to doing it. Maybe Juanjo would
whip up an auto-converter for us if you ask real nice.. he kicks ass like that. ;)

hey Juanjo please help us with this converter.. it would be real time saver.. I would even buy it if there is something commercial converter available for this purpose.

Thanks guys

This conversion is not easy at all because plugin needs to build a custom node tree itself, but it is not impossible. It is in my list for a future plugin releases.

Thanks Juanjo!
Oh i see its not that easy to implement in lightwave. Anyways thanks. You know how pain it is to convert 700+ surfaces in a scene from lightwave to octame material :)
I think I have to spend 2 days on surface conversion alone...

Really appreciate your reply and very nice to know that it is in your list.
Thank you so much.

Hey Juanjo - I personally think you would be well within your rights as a dev
to make a fancy conversion plug and sell it separate.. for $25 or $50 maybe...

It could just be a side gig, and folks will either want it or not.. choose to pay
for it and have it save them a shitload of work/time/money... or they can always
do the work themselves.

I truly believe that you should not have to include this as part of your main plug.
Obviously, this would be a pretty sizable endeavor and you should be compensated
well for it, should you choose to develop this.

I am having the same problems with the Poser Fusion plugin for Lightwave. This is a plugin supplied
by Smith Micro and links up perfectly with lightwave. It works about flawlessly bringing in all
textures and objects to LW .

However, for Octane renders it is a jumbled, time draining, mess. I believe it might be converting to obj files to bring it to LW.

Juanjo, if you could please look at that, and possibly add it to this project, it would be
great. I would definitely pay for that version of an obj. plugin.

thanks
