This is the recommended thread for downloading, and posting any questions, suggestions or support queries for OctaneRender for Poser, build 1.14a (TEST RELEASE). This version is compiled against Octane 1.14, so see the requirements for that build regarding compatibility with your video card.

This version runs on Poser9/PoserPro2012 and Poser10/PoserPro2014, on Macintosh OS X Snow Leopard, Lion & Mountain Lion.

This Mac version of the plugin is still in development, so this is a beta test version at best, and at the moment has not been sufficiently tested to be a "commercial" quality.

Installation
For the moment, the installer is a ZIP file. Paste the Runtime from the ZIP over the Runtime of the Poser/Poser Pro application. Select "Keep Newer" when pasting.

If you have a support issue, pls provide the following information:
- Operating System (ie. Mac OS X Mountain Lion)
- Amount of RAM
- Graphics Card(s) - model (ie. GTX 580, 3GB)
- Nvidia driver version
- Poser version (Poser -> Help -> About Poser) - list the build number (eg. 9.0.3.23027)
- OctaneRender for Plugin version (ie. X.XXa)
- Also have ready a copy of the octaneplugin.log and cuda.log file from your Poser temp direction (Poser -> Edit -> General Preferences -> Misc tab to find the temp directory)

Change Log from release 1.13u
N/A

Differences between the MAC and WINDOWS version
- You cannot rightclick the Progressive save button to open the progressive save folder
- Uses the standard Mac color picker rather than an "advanced" color picker

Known Issues
- IMPORANT: If you close Poser whilst the plugin is open, Poser will crash. So close the plugin prior to shutting down Poser. I am working on a fix for this.

If you have questions....
- Read the manual
- Read the FAQ
- Watch the Features Video
- Read the Features Blog Posting
- Watch the Introductory Tutorial
- Check the Facebook Page
- Post your question on this forum thread

Troubleshooting
N/A

Limitations
- Loading a Poser scene by double-clicking a pz3 file in the Windows file explorer, or selecting from your "Recent Files" will not load the previously saved Octane scene data for that file when Poser starts. This is due to a Poser bug which has been reported to Smith Micro. Instead, use the Poser menu File -> Open to open any pz3 files which contain Octane scene data. [Unconfirmed on the Mac version]
- Material Picking (by clicking on a material in the Poser Material Room) does not select that material in the OctaneRender material tab if you have a camera selected in the Parameter Dials window. [Unconfirmed on the Mac version]
- If you delete a duplicated figure in Poser, when next reloading the scene, the figures may have been renamed, in which case the plugin will not have loaded the materials for the rename figure correctly. This has been reported as a big to Smith Micro and will be fixed. [Unconfirmed on the Mac version]

I just refreshed the installer at the link at the top of this thread with a new version.

1.14a2
- Fixed issue where converting certain skin materials was throwing a python exception
- Fixed a range of issues associated with adding, renaming and deleting scene elements when the plugin is running. In summary, you can add, rename and delete items, and the plugin should not need a refresh (it will do a refresh automatically if the viewport is open).
- Fixed issues with Refresh setting the wrong resolution

Thanks Paul,

I was able to download and do a quick render before heading off to work. So far works well, the only annoying bug is that i have to activate the plugin every time I go into poser. (it does not save my activation).

I did experience a few random crashes, but not sure if that was poser library or the plugin. I'll do some more testing this evening.

Thanks Nick

I've fixed some more crashes in the last few hours which should help. If you get Poser crashing to the desktop, have a look at the coredump text file - and post the stack trace.

I'll will fix the activation issue and then post an updated installer. Probably 3-4 hours away.

Hi Paul,

Poser crashed to desktop as soon as i tried to switch from a texture environment. I've pasted a few lines of what it gave me aafter the error, do you want me to past all of it, it seems kind of long...i could email it if that's better.

Thats perfect Nick - TY.

The import bits are:
Code: Select all
1 libwx_osx_cocoa-2.9.1.0.0.dylib 0x00000001030c2a36 wxGenericTreeItem::DoCalculateSize(wxGenericTreeCtrl*, wxDC&, bool) + 374
2 libwx_osx_cocoa-2.9.1.0.0.dylib 0x00000001030c358c wxGenericTreeItem::CalculateSize(wxGenericTreeCtrl*) + 76
3 libwx_osx_cocoa-2.9.1.0.0.dylib 0x00000001030c3899 wxGenericTreeCtrl::SetItemText(wxTreeItemId const&, wxString const&) + 137
4 _controls_.so 0x000000011128df58 _wrap_TreeCtrl_SetItemText + 344

which means Poser crashes when the plugin modified the Settings tree control. If I can reproduce these issues, I can attempt to work around them. But the wx.python implementation on the Mac looks questionable.

I have posted a range of changes to the latest version, which you can re-download from the link at the top of this thread. Hopefully one of the changes I have made will resolve the issue where you need to re-activate each time you run the plugin. I am unable to reproduce that error, so I would be interested in your feedback.

1.14a7
- Fixed issue where "floattexture" node changes were not being applied to the Octane scene
- Fixed python exception when Importing a POC file
- Added the ability to edit the Poser to Octane scale factor in the "Config" screen.
- Fixed issue where cuda settings were not being applied
- Fixed issue where "Paste to all materials named ???" raised a python exception
- Fixed issue where "Paste to all skin materials" raised a python exception
- Fixed issues with removing bump maps from the figure and scene
- Fixed permissions error when starting the plugin.

Nick, can you pls confirm that you are running 1.14a7 (the 7 on the end is the important bit). If not, can you pls re-download and try again?

The username/password is stored in /Users/[username]/Library/Preferences/Poser Pro/[9/10]/access.orp, and on your version I suspect it's saving to a file called "9\access.orp". 1.14a7 should fix this issue.

Hi Nick

The access.orp file will be deeper in the folders than that.

For you it should be in /Users/nalamanos/Library/Preferences/Poser Pro/9/access.orp.

The easy way to test is start Poser, then Scripts->Python Shell, and type

Code: Select all
os.path.join(poser.PrefsLocation(), "access.orp")

That will tell you where the access.orp password file was saved. If it is not there, there maybe there is a permissions issue with that folder.
