Lips

Hi there

I have had really mixed results with trying to get a glossy lip look, some images it looks fantastic, using the same roughness or much lower values results in zero glossiness (very flat dull look)... is this due to the poser texture perhaps or are there other factors that go into this, ive played with lighting, roughness and with bump values.

thanks

Hi rhere 3dZen. What I found was that you can push up the specular value and decrease the roughness. Under Bump ad a alphaimage then choose the lips under the octane material tab. Then icrease the the bump value to about .15 and click the invert tab. It should be working as you intend.

I have done (I think what you suggested) but must be mes sign something up

My figure is using your 2.5 SSS Selected, Teh SPec value - to increase i move the Reflection Value under that - right? It was at .9 already. Now im not sure i understand you on the bump sugetetion, do i change the Bump to alphaimage, this is what i did, then moved power to .15, invert enabled and roughness sis at .0015

Still dull lips :(

Oh and I used the 2.5 SSS selected before with out issues perhaps this is the texture from Poser?

Im going to upload a v4 material that ive tweaked a bit. The leyes i have used Face offs technique and the skin and so on is a little different from my redspec ones. The lips are very shiney so II just up the bump. The file will be called superspec Beta

Im getting odd results with lips and the settings, these settings had exactly the look, a slight gloss on the lips in one render, then i did another render and the lips are dull (again). Maybe its lighting but i really did not move or change lights too.

Can anyone take a look at these settings and confirm i should get a glossy look on lips with them or suggest what i should change ?

thanks
