DAZ Hair (in general)

Does DAZ Hair work at any level in this? I haven't seen this problem before, when exporting an object from DAZ 4.5 into Octane. But, I do not see regular hair working in the render in this plugin. Any others have this experience? If so, what are the plans to fix this? Workarounds might be helpful. Anyone? Especially, the developer...?

Are you talking about the renderman curves hair solutions such as LAMH and GH? If so, those aren't meshes and Octane won't be able to see them. You will need to export the hair to OBJ and then you can use it. Using OBJ hair from LAMH can be less than optimal, but GH seems to do a good job exporting.

With GH you will need to export to OBJ, then import that OBJ into studio. For LAMH you will need to set up each shave group to export to OBJ, and then it will automatically place the hair in studio for you.

EDIT:Re-reading your statement maybe I'm on the wrong path. But I haven't had any issues with regular mesh based hair at this point and I've used a lot. You may have to describe the situation more, including which hair you are using.

@rcallicotte: larsmidnatt is right; lamh and gh don't provide any geometry inside ds to be rendered by octane. i don't know if they export it right with the scene if you choose to export a scene to .obj. if so, this would let to believe hair generated with those plugins could be rendered with octane right away.

for any other hair object: it's just some geometry with opacity maps applied - so there should be no problem in general.

to say more, i'd need to know more about what you use and what you do, and what "not working" means in particular ;)
The obvious is that which is never seen until someone expresses it simply

1x i7 2600K @5.0 (Asrock Z77), 16GB, 2x Asus GTX Titan 6GB @1200/3100/6200
2x i7 2600K @4.5 (P8Z68 -V P), 12GB, 1x EVGA GTX 580 3GB @0900/2200/4400

Hair (in general) is fine via the plug-in - this is a first-ish test (SFW!): http://fav.me/d5zlneo that I did. As others have said, the hair 'generators' LAMH and Garibaldi generate DS/3Delight-specific items unless/until they are asked to export real .obj geometry, in which case Octane should have no problem.
